Fun Park Central
Is Fun Park Central the Newest Hit for Floridian’s?
Caitlyn Sadofsky
Fun Park Central is the newest theme park in Fort Myers, Florida. It just recently had its opening night this past Friday. The park will be open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 7pm. Friday’s and Saturday’s, however, are open from 3pm to 12am. With the help of Universal Creative, Fun Park Central was able to come alive. I attended the park on Saturday, and let’s just say I was not disappointed.
When you first step foot onto the gravel entry of Fun Park Central, you are greeted with a line of ticket booths, each with more than twenty people per booth. The park is filled with all different kinds of rides and food. There are three roller coasters, each bigger than the first. One is taller while one goes upside down. Smaller rides, like the tilt-a-whirl, still provide the laughing and screaming from having too much fun. The common ferris wheel and bumper cars are also in close proximity to the entrance for those who want to warm up before the Mamba. The Mamba is a slingshot type of ride. Locking you into an enclosed cage around a circular base, the ride brings you up to the very top; the highest point of all the rides. Then, slowly start to spin until you are at top speed. Here, the entire ride begins to spin in a circle, while you are also spinning rapidly. The ride is intense, but it definitely brings many tourists, including myself. Other rides, including anti-gravity, car races, and little games like apple bobbing really allow there to be something for everyone.
Throughout the park, the warming smells of hot dogs and funnel cakes fill the air. The park includes a variety of food, from cotton candy stands, to fruit bowls, to even cheese burgers. Walking around, screams of children and adults filled the air along with the food. From the entrance to the middle of the park, colors and lights surround you in every corner. The rides are colored vibrant, neon colors to get people to see them. The lights flash along every inch of metal. There are small stands decorated with stuffed animals to get the kids' attention. There are even bouncy houses for the children and alcoholic beverages for the adults.
My initial thought of the park was its cleanliness. As all of the rides are brand new, everything seemed very clean and safe. There were professional theme park workers at every ride, making sure everything was going smoothly. To me, this is one of the most important aspects of running a theme park. The rides can be very dangerous and many people have become injured because of the inability to care for the rides. Another thing that stuck out to me was the cleanliness. The rides were cleaned every few turns, making sure that nothing had spilled or gotten dirty for future guests. The workers were also very friendly and welcoming to all the guests, being very spirited when entering the park and every single ride.
On the downside, the park's hours are from 7am to 7pm from Monday through Thursday, and they are closed on Sunday’s. Most teens and kids will be wanting to go to the park later at night as there are school activities and sports after school. Another factor to put into view is that not a lot of people will be wanting to go to the park so early in the morning. In reality, those attending the park will be at work or school during the daytime, so the 7am open is not ideal in my opinion. The location of the park is okay, yet there are not a lot of things to do near it. There are no restaurants or shopping centers within fifteen minute from the park. Therefore, going would have to be a day trip, making it harder for some people to attend.
In the end, Fun Park Central is a great addition to locals in Fort Myers and anyone looking to go. There is something for everyone, and the attractions are enjoyable for families and friends. For someone who has enjoyed theme parks and fairs since childhood, Fun Park Central really brings back all the good memories from being young. I felt free and happy and never wanted to leave. I suggest that everyone takes a trip to Fun Park Central as soon as possible.
Hi Caitlyn!
ReplyDeleteI thought that your review of “Fun Park Central” was excellent and well-written. You used a variety of sentence structures and lengths, creating intrigue for the reader. I thoroughly enjoyed your detailed descriptions of the rides like the “Mamba” and “anti-gravity.” This provided insight into the park and made it easy to visualize. I could not find grammatical errors in your piece and stayed in the present tense, which is what is required for a review. I also thought your use of ‘loaded language’ was great, since it allowed you to give an overall positive view of the park. For example, the phrases like “friendly,” “clean,” and “welcoming” show what the reader should expect. Your organization of your review was easy to follow. When describing the rides, it would be interesting to add in more of your personal opinion here as well. For example, you could say that “The Mamba was my favorite ride because…”. This would further enhance your thoughtful review. Great job!

Hi Caitlyn,
ReplyDeleteThere were no language or grammatical errors. You followed the correct form, I know this because you had a headline for your article and all articles have headlines. The structure was good. It seems to follow a chronological structure. One indicator for this was, “When you first step foot onto the gravel entry of Fun Park Central”. You started off with stating the things you liked about the park and at the end you stated the things you didn’t like. From what I read, there were no grammatical errors. Your article is structured well so that it flows well and isn’t all over the place. Overall I give you 20/25 marks.
